This may be a stupid question, but what is the color palette available to draw in? 16 colors? 256 colors?

It’s 24-bit, true-color. Wikipedia on true-color:
“…a total of at least 16,777,216 color variations. The human eye can discriminate up to ten million colors.”

So don’t worry about it 🙂

What’s funny is that there’s no difference between an 8- and 24-bit pallet when you’re only dealing with 256 pixels. 🙂
