Thanks! Now if I can just get Reddit to be more responsive and have more options…
I’ve got to come up with an Arlo animation too.

I know Reddit has been making updates/changes recently which might be the cause of the delays. I agree that the trigger actions are not the best for Reddit.

    Sorry about that.

I timed it after posting an upvote and gave up after 6 minutes.

It is set to “play” and the parameter is “Reddit_Alien”

I published the recipe (“Reddit/Particle/Upvote”) and see the log shows it was triggered three times but I never saw the animation. I suspect it takes longer than I expected before it triggers.

Very nice! Now if I can just get the trigger to work for Reddit…(If I upvote it should display but doesn’t.) Checked the recipe and it does work. 🙁

I used a an SMS to cause a Play function and created a new recipe (which is what I thought I needed to do). This wasn’t the Arlo example but an SMS test I made. The function text “with input (Function Input)” looks the same in each case for me. I’m sorry if I didn’t understand I’m a IFTTT noob.

Yep, I filled in the “with input (Function Input)” with the parameter and that seems to work. I’m curious why yours is named differently though.

I noticed on your IIS alert there is an option for the animation path. When I select “alert” I don’t get an “animation path” parameter I get “with input (Function Input)” and it shows the “Arlo” text fields. Obviously I have messed up somewhere but not sure how to see the same parameters.

I just got mine and went through the process of downloading the firmware and using the Particle app. I was a bit nervous but all went well and I was able to access the GameFrame via my phone or PC via a web browser. Could make changes, turn on and off etc.

Now to figure out how I can use ITTT to work with it. That will take some studying on my part.

My only concern is the back. Before the back would lay flat, but with the new chip inserted the back will have to bow in order to be screwed in. I think I will try adding some plastic washers/spacers between the board and the posts to elevate the board away from pushing on the chip.

So far this looks really cool!

Haha! Yes, mainly because I’m obsessive. The silly SpinnyThing animation I added has 537 frames. To play it twice evenly in 30 seconds the hold time has to be 0.0279329608938647. 27 is too long and 28 too short. I am kidding though I just wanted to know if it was possible.

Adjusted the frame hold time from 30 to 28 to try and make the animation run twice fully in 30 seconds. (15 / 537 frames = 0.0279329608938547)

There’s something a little disturbing about that animation…

I figured out the issue which was stupid user error on my part. Once I looked at the log output. It told me the HEX file could not be read. It was then that I figured out I was browsing to the file within a ZIP folder. Once I unzipped and pointed to that file the app worked perfectly and updated the firmware.
